Day 2

Our first stop of day 2 was Fira. Fira, also known as Thira or Thera, is the modern capital of the Greek Aegean island of Santorini, sitting high on the island’s cliffs with jaw-dropping views of the Aegean Sea and the famous caldera. The town is filled with narrow, winding streets lined with charming whitewashed buildings, cute cafes, and trendy shops. It has such a lively vibe, especially in the evenings when the sun sets and the town comes alive with people enjoying the vibrant nightlife. The Cycladic architecture here is everything you imagine Santorini to be—bright, white, and beautifully simplistic. Many tourists from cruise ships land in Fira, as it’s one of the most popular ports of call in Santorini.

It was said that Oia, located on the northern tip of Santorini, is considered one of the best sunset spots in the world. We took a taxi to get there, only to find the place overcrowded. There was barely a spot for us to stand and watch the sunset, with the streets packed with tourists. We quickly gave up and took a taxi back to our hotel. It turned out to be the best decision we made. The sunset from our hotel's roof was one of the most beautiful moments we've ever experienced.
